CALL FOR ARTISTS: Olivier Salvas curates the 2023 BCNPHA Conference Art Show: “Welcome To My House”
Olivier Salvas Artiste is back at curating the BCNPHA Art Show this year under the theme of “Welcome to my House” on Wednesday, November 22nd, 2023 as well as during the entire conference from November 19-22, 2023.
Welcome to my House” invites participants to be fully immersed in over fifteen different and cohesive art experiences that showcases the diversity and the uniqueness of our local art community. The “Welcome to my House” artists will invite you to their own house warmings, encouraging visitors to engage with their lived experiences through their craft.
Artists can submit propositions until September 15th at 11:59PM PST. Artists must be available to be on site on both Tuesday, November 21st (late afternoon/evening for set up) and on Wednesday, November 22nd, 2023 all day during the event.

Welcome To My House: Call for Artists

Does your organization provide arts-related services or programming? Would you like to showcase your work in this area at the Conference?
Are you an artist whose work touches on housing-related issues, homelessness, mental health, addictions, dealing with or overcoming stigma, or theme of togetherness?
Artists may be:
· People with lived experience (homelessness, mental health and/or addictions).
· People living in non-profit housing or who access social services.
· Professional artists who can present a cohesive collection of their work under the theme of “Welcome to my House” (Cohesion can be represented through the art style, through a common theme or through lived experiences e.g. background, identity, etc.)
Artwork may include 2D and 3D work, as well as installations. The art exhibition will take place on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at the Sheraton Wall Centre in downtown Vancouver. Additional opportunities to showcase artwork may be available during the conference, November 19- 22, 2023.
How to participate
Participation in the art exhibition is free, but space is limited. We are looking for a wide variety of work representing themes of identity, housing, homelessness, mental health & addictions. Once space is filled, a waitlist will be created in case of cancellations or if more space opens.
Deadline for submissions is September 15th, 2023, 11:59 PM PST.

Up to 10 high resolution images of artwork to be displayed
A short artist statement explaining how the work relates to the themes of housing, homelessness, mental health, addictions or overcoming stigma or/and how you will present a cohesive collection under the theme of “Welcome to my House”.
