The Enchanted Garden: Revisited now showing at Bean Hastings.

Olivier Salvas Artiste presents a revised version of The Enchanted Garden.

With the success of the original run with collectors, Olivier has added new pieces along with additional pieces from his collection.

The Enchanted Garden Photoshoot by Rory McLeod

For this collection, Olivier was inspired by the beautiful gardens around where he lives in British-Columbia, making connections about how nature affects identity and personal growth. As he was strolling through gardens, he let his imagination take him in a fantasy world where fairies and mythical creatures live.

Inspired by queer culture, Olivier created characters that tell a story of self-acceptance and inspired by animals he loves such as deers and elephants. The main photography for the project shows Olivier dressed like a fairy, as fairies were a major source of inspiration for the project. With the imagery of a fairy, Olivier wishes to bring conversations about gender identity and the meaning of binary, but he also wants to show how transformative and magical life can be when coming to terms with self-acceptance.

The Enchanted Garden’s initial run had showcases at the Federation Gallery in Vancouver as well as at Montreal Pride. It also was showcased through various Gallea shows.

The Enchanted Garden: Revisited runs until March 31st at Bean Hastings 175 W. Hastings Vancouver, BC.
