PRESS RELEASE: “The Enchanted Garden” by Olivier Salvas Artiste
Olivier Salvas Artiste releases his new project “The Enchanted Garden”.
After the success of “Flamboyant”, Olivier Salvas Artiste returns with “The Enchanted Garden”. For this collection, Olivier was inspired by the beautiful gardens around where he lives in British-Columbia, making connections about how nature affects identity and personal growth. As he was strolling through gardens, he let his imagination take him in a fantasy world where fairies and mythical creatures live.
Inspired by queer culture, Olivier created characters that tell a story of self-acceptance and inspired by animals he loves such as deers and elephants. The main photography for the project shows Olivier dressed like a fairy, as fairies were a major source of inspiration for the project. With the imagery of a fairy, Olivier wishes to bring conversations about gender identity and the meaning of binary, but he also wants to show how transformative and magical life can be when coming to terms with self-acceptance. With the fairy theme, Olivier also made a nod to his “Flamboyant” project, reclaiming the term fairy as a word used negatively when referring to a gay person or a member of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.
“The Enchanted Garden” is being showed in different Pride art shows and festivals across Canada this Summer. You can meet one of the characters from this project “Beautiful Monster” on billboards downtown Montreal at Montreal Pride’s Art, Activism & Resilience show.
