Olivier Salvas Artiste, curator for the 2022 Housing Central Conference Art Show

Olivier Salvas Artiste has been chosen as the Art curator for the 2022 Housing Central Conference Art show.

For the occasion, Olivier is creating a show called Together. Olivier’s artistic statement for the show goes as follow:

"Togetherness is the state of being close to another person or other people. We share land, space, and community, but do we really know our neighbours? “Together”, the art show at the 2022 Housing Central Conference aims at starting conversation, break barriers and to have a greater understanding of one another.”

Artists living in British-Columbia are welcomed to apply to be part of the show. Here is the complete artist call:

Are you:

·       An organization provide arts-related services or programming? Would you like to showcase your work in this area at the Conference?

 

·       Are you an artist whose work touches on housing-related issues, homelessness, mental health, addictions, dealing with or overcoming stigma, or theme of togetherness?

 

Artists may be:

·       People with lived experience (homelessness, mental health and/or addictions).

·       People living in non-profit housing or who access social services.

·       Professional artists whose work deals with these themes or the theme of togetherness.

 

Artwork may include 2D and 3D work, as well as installations. If you have questions about the suitability of your work, please contact Olivier Salvas at artshow@bcnpha.ca.

 

The art exhibition will take place on Wednesday, November 23rd, 2022, at the Sheraton Wall Centre in downtown Vancouver. Additional opportunities to showcase artwork may be available during the conference, November 21- 23, 2022.

 

How to participate

Participation in the art exhibition is free, but space is limited. We are looking for a wide variety of work representing themes of togetherness, housing, homelessness, mental health & addictions. Once space is filled, a waitlist will be created in case of cancellations or if more space opens. 

 

Deadline for submissions is September 15th, 2022 11:59 PM PST.

·       A document*(.doc or PDF) that includes:

o   Contact information (Full Name, Organization (If applicable), email, phone number, website, social media, medium) 

o   A short artist statement explaining how the work relates to the themes of togetherness, housing, homelessness, mental health, addictions or overcoming stigma.

o   A description of the organization and art program to be represented OR a bio of the artist

·       Up to 10 high resolution images of artwork to be displayed.
